Employees should be accountable to country-NC President

Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the civil service employees should work with commitment to Nepal and Nepali people, not towards any specific political party.
At an interaction programme organized here Wednesday by the Nepal Civil Service Employees Union (Association), he further said, “The NC sticks to the belief that the employees should perform with commitment to the country and people, not to a party”.
Accusing the incumbent government of opting to make bureaucracy committed to ruling party, he expressed worry over the growing political interference in the bureaucracy, judiciary and police administration.
Also speaking on the occasion, NC former general secretary Krishna Sitaula said the people are getting frustrated over the performance and conducts of the government, noting interference on press, trade, administration and judiciary was in no way good for the country and democracy.
The trade union leaders urged the government to overhaul the proposed federal civil service.
On the occasion, President Deuba handed over an award carrying Rs 51,000 to Association’s former Vice-Chairperson Rudra Khanal in recognition of his contribution to the trade union movement.
Likewise, as many as 72 retired employees were felicitated on the occasion.
